Welcome

April 1st, 2009

Dear Friends,

Welcome to your new community living room - a 21st century library to serve all of Cumberland County. Since the dream of the county’s first library was born in the living rooms of the ladies of the Art Circle more than 100 years ago, our county has grown beyond their wildest imaginations.

Our new, exciting library will be a place for all of the people of Cumberland County to read, learn, and grow; where we can access the world through information technology; and where we can meet in groups large and small for discourse with our neighbors. The programs and services of the library are free and accessible to the residents of Cumberland County of all ages and all interests.   It will be a welcoming place for the entire county to enjoy.

On behalf of the Art Circle Public Library Foundation Board, I want to thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Diane Brown

A Growing Library is the Keystone for a Growing Community

April 1st, 2009

Cumberland County has one of the most rapidly growing populations in the State of Tennessee.  In this age of growing technology, the quest for knowledge has never been greater.

Our new library will oer:

 •  33,237 square feet of building space

 •  A capacity for 88,000 books and items

 •  37 dedicated computer stations with additional internet access via laptop

 •  Comfortable quiet areas for study and contemplation

 •  A large meeting room with capacity for 330 persons and convertible to smaller gatherings

 •  Book Reader’s Café

 •  A children’s library with over 23,000 books / items and a story-time carousel

A trip to the Library can be a coherent journey from the beginnings of writing and philosophy to the computerized technology of the modern era. Knowledge and learning have changed the course of human events and our understanding of the world.
